Summer School

1st Greek Summer School on “Synchrotron Radiation: Properties & Applications

05 Sep 2022TO08 Sep 2022

The 1st Greek Summer School on “Synchrotron Radiation: Properties & Applications” will take place in Thessaloniki on 5-8 September 2022 and its main objective is to expose and train members of the Greek scientific community to the unique properties of SR and its applications in innovative research methods for the study of matter. The characterization methods that will be discussed include diffraction, scattering, spectroscopies, microscopy & tomography which find applications in a wide range of materials and substances/systems (e.g. materials for micro- and opto-electronics, nanomaterials, biomaterials/biomolecules,  drugs, objects of cultural heritage etc). The Summer School is addressed to young and experienced researchers from the universities, research institutes and industrial R&D laboratories.  The program consists of hour-long morning lectures and afternoon lab-courses for training of the participants on data analysis. The tutors are world-renowned scientists from Europe and the USA (ESRF, XFEL, BESSY II, SLAC).

Organization: School of Physics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) with the support of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and the Greek Synchrotron Users network (GrSUN).

ECTS: Upon successful completion of an online test, 2 ECTS will be granted by the Center of Re-education and Lifelong Learning of AUTh.

Venue & dates: Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation-Building Α-AUTH, Thessaloniki, 5-8 September2022.

Registration fees: 100€ for students & 150€ for senior scientists (they cover teaching material, lab courses, coffee & lunch breaks).
