The aim of this course is to help students, at every level of their scientific level, to integrate into the research methodology in a practical and useful way. Through the course, they will be able to organize and productively utilize their time dealing with scientific issues related to data, which need interpretations, calculations and elaborations. They will also be able to present the results of the analysis of the data in the form of a report, in the context of a thesis and/or a process of publication of research results in the form of a presentation at a conference or in the form of a publication in a scientific journal.
The term scientific report corresponds to a completed written paper or an oral presentation on a specific scientific topic. It includes the framework of the topic, measurement procedures and results that have been obtained after some form of processing and/or calculations and lead to specific conclusions. Scientific reporting is the result of a research study. Behind a scientific report there is the answer to a question or the solution to a problem that can only be given after a research process that will take the form of a scientific paper. The quality characteristics of a scientific report are mainly determined by the choice of the research methodology, i.e. the strategy to be followed in solving the problem, starting from the formulation of the research question and ending with the finding of the solution. A scientific report-paper has specific quality requirements: logical organization and presentation of ideas and meanings, deepening of the topic, accuracy and correctness, originality, documentation, formal structure and formatting.
