Students of the Department of Physics undertake internships in a wide range of organizations, including institutions applying Medical and Nuclear Physics (such as hospitals, private clinics, and private biochemical laboratories), educational institutions (secondary education schools, private schools, Science Laboratory Centers, and the NOESIS Science Center and Technology Museum), organizations active in Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Studies, and Meteorology (such as the Hellenic National Meteorological Service, ELGA, and environmental departments of municipalities or regional authorities), as well as companies and research institutes specializing in electronic circuit design and development, telecommunications research, materials and nanomaterials research, computer hardware and software, programming, metrology, energy, and related fields, offering students opportunities to enhance their knowledge in physics and develop prospects for future professional employment.
The internship lasts two months on a full-time basis. During this period, students follow the guidance of supervisors from the Department of Physics as well as the responsible staff of the host organizations. Their performance is evaluated and graded based on their overall professional conduct and effective participation within the host organization
The aim of the course is to enable students of the Department of Physics to:
✔ apply in practice the knowledge and skills acquired through relevant courses and laboratory work during their studies,
✔ assimilate scientific knowledge through the process of professional scientific training,
✔ become familiar with the working environment and the demands of the professional field, as well as gain experience in workplace relations,
