he course will provide to the students a good overview of the key discoveries in particle physics and their consequences in the development in the field, with emphasis in the recent experiments at LHC, CERN. It is a necessary base for those who are interested to carry graduate studies and research in the field. Main chaters:
-Relativistic Kinemtatics, cross sections, Golden rule of Fermi and Feynman diagrams
-Electromagnetic interactions (Bhabha scattering)
-Weak interactions (V-A interaction, the pion decay, weak neutral curents, weak mixing angle, CKM matrix, observation of the W and Z bosons
– Deep inelastic scattering, Structure functions of the proton, Neutrino-nucleon scattering
– Strong interactions
-Unification of weak and electromagnetic forces, the Standard model, the discovery of the Higgs boson at LHC
-Searches for New Physics, Physics beyond the Standard Model
