Complexity in Heliophysics
Celebrating the Career and Works of Loukas Vlahos

Complexity in Heliophysics is a hybrid workshop celebrating the prolific career of Prof. Loukas Vlahos. The meeting will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on June 8 – 10, 2026. Contributions from remote participants will be solicited as well. Oral presentations will be allocated to a reasonable fraction of remote participants.

The workshop will feature presentations, discussions and debate on the topics Loukas has championed over several decades of frontline research: complexity in solar and heliospheric magnetized plasmas; fusion in laboratory plasmas; self-organization; self-organized criticality; turbulence; coronal heating; solar energetic events; particle acceleration and transport. We envision capturing the current state-of-the-art on these topics, from both observational and theory/modeling ends, and highlighting promising avenues and tools for future research.
